Concepts inTechnical perspective: Disk array models for automating storage management
Disk array
A disk array is a disk storage system which contains multiple disk drives. It is differentiated from a disk enclosure, in that an array has cache memory and advanced functionality, like RAID and virtualization. Components of a typical disk array include: Disk array controllers Cache memories Disk enclosures Power supplies Typically a disk array provides increased availability, resiliency and maintainability by using additional, redundant components (controllers, power supplies, fans, etc.

Automation
Automation is the use of machines, control systems and information technologies to optimize productivity in the production of goods and delivery services. The correct incentive for applying automation is to increase productivity, and/or quality beyond that possible with current human labor levels so as to realize economies of scale, and/or realize predictable quality levels. The incorrect application of automation, which oocurs most often, is an effort to eliminate or replace human labor.
