Concepts inLarge-scale graph mining using backbone refinement classes
Structure mining
Structure mining or structured data mining is the process of finding and extracting useful information from semi structured data sets. Graph mining is a special case of structured data mining.

Cross-validation (statistics)
Cross-validation, sometimes called rotation estimation, is a technique for assessing how the results of a statistical analysis will generalize to an independent data set. It is mainly used in settings where the goal is prediction, and one wants to estimate how accurately a predictive model will perform in practice.

Statistical classification
In machine learning and statistics, classification is the problem of identifying which of a set of categories (sub-populations) a new observation belongs, on the basis of a training set of data containing observations (or instances) whose category membership is known. The individual observations are analyzed into a set of quantifiable properties, known as various explanatory variables, features, etc. These properties may variously be categorical (e.g.

Upper and lower bounds
In mathematics, especially in order theory, an upper bound of a subset S of some partially ordered set (P, ¿) is an element of P which is greater than or equal to every element of S. The term lower bound is defined dually as an element of P which is less than or equal to every element of S. A set with an upper bound is said to be bounded from above by that bound, a set with a lower bound is said to be bounded from below by that bound.

Statistics
Statistics is the study of the collection, organization, analysis, and interpretation of data. It deals with all aspects of this, including the planning of data collection in terms of the design of surveys and experiments. A statistician is someone who is particularly well versed in the ways of thinking necessary for the successful application of statistical analysis. Such people have often gained this experience through working in any of a wide number of fields.
