A microcoded tool to sample the software instruction address

Abstract

This paper introduces the concept of software execution localization and defines a microcoded tool for measuring execution localization. The tool is presented as a conceptual description.

This tool has been used during development of microcode assists for the System/370 Models 138 and 148, and also the 4341 Processor.
