Compiler course vs. translators course

Abstract

To teach translators by means of an elementary compiler design course and portions of several other courses does not serve students as well as a course on all translators, which can be followed by a more specialized course on compiler design. The reasons are reviewed and a flexible course on translators is described. The benefits of the resulting arrangement are set rortn.
