Abstract

Before designing a graduate program in information - systems it is important to consider the characteristics of the potential students and the characteristics of the environment in which these students are expected to work after graduating. Since most of the published work in this field has been done in developed countries, it is specially important to consider the implications that may arise when designing education programs for underdeveloped countries. A brief profile of the Latin American environment is presented here together with a graduate program designed for such environment.
