Abstract
Welcome to the proceedings of the Fifth International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies and Development (ICTD2012), held in-cooperation with ACM SIGCHI and ACM SIGCAS. These proceedings constitute an important collection of research papers characterizing some of the latest and most significant work in the dynamic field of information and communication technologies and development. Beyond just the papers, these proceedings represent one part of a much larger program consisting of over 100 Open Sessions, Technology Demonstrations, Keynote Speeches, and social programs hosted by the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA, from 12--15 March 2012.
